How To Submit Your Photos

A panel of industry professionals will review all submissions and select one image from each participant. Participants will not receive individual feedback on their photos. All selections will be featured in our online pop-up exhibition and fundraiser on Saturday, June 21st.

Analog Submissions

Analog images include and must be:

  • Printed copies of photos taken with film cameras

  • Digital files of scanned negatives

  • Not be framed or matted

  • Be no larger than 11×14”

Analog images will be due via in-person drop-off at PCNW, no later than Wednesday, June 18th, 2024 at 12pm (noon) PST. This deadline is for any version of analog photos.

Please Note: If you are having your film developed and scanned at a lab, the due date for your submission is Wednesday,  June 18th at 12 pm.  We realize this is a short turnaround time, so please contact your lab of choice ahead of time to coordinate. 

Our friends over at Panda Lab are offering a 20% discount, plus a turnaround of development and scanning completed by Tuesday, June 17th. When dropping off your film, please let them know you are participating in Chase The Light. 

All scanned negative files must be in JPEG format, and emailed to submissions@pcnw.org. The files must be renamed in the following format: FirstName_LastName_Title.jpg (example Jane_Smith_Flowers.jpg).

 The PCNW darkrooms will be open to Chase The Light participants on June 14th and June 15th from 12pm – 6pm PST to work on their submissions. PCNW will be open during these hours for people to drop off their analog prints:

  • June 16th through June 18th – 10:30am – 12 pm PST.

Digital Submissions

Digital images will be due via our submission website, Picter, no later than Monday, June 16th 2025 at 12pm (noon) PST. The submission website will be shared via email and on this site closer to the date.

Guidelines for digital images:

  • Shoot large files

  • 4200 pixels on the long side at 300 ppi is recommended

  • If you are unsure, just submit the largest file possible

  • Cell phone images work

  • Accepted file types are .JPG only
