Looking for ways to get involved? Volunteering with PCNW is a great way to give back to the community, meet new people and get a little extra facetime in our facilities.

Opportunities range from darkroom assistance, digital lab assistance, helping out with gallery shows or event setup and more!  

Perks include free facilities usage, which we give out at a rate of 1-2 days per volunteer shift worked, depending on the shift.

Volunteer Roles

Analog Black & White Darkroom & Studio Program Volunteer

This volunteer role provides excellent customer service, assists students, clients, and faculty members who use our black & white darkrooms and lighting studios. A friendly, outgoing demeanor, experience with studio lighting, darkroom printing, darkroom and chemistry set-up, and a commitment to procedures and safety is required. Training is provided. Minimum commitment: 4-6 hour commitment weekly on a quarterly basis

 

Digital Program Volunteer

This volunteer role provides excellent customer service, assists students, clients, and faculty members who use our digital lab. A friendly, outgoing demeanor, experience with Epson and Canon digital inkjet printers, negative scanning, basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom is required. IT experience or general computer troubleshooting knowledge is a plus. Current knowledge of both Mac and PC platforms is required. Training is provided. Minimum commitment: 4-6 hour commitment weekly on a quarterly basis

 

Cleaning Crew

Do you ever get that bug to organize and clean something? Join the Thursday morning cleaning crew and help us keep our darkrooms, labs and classrooms fresh and tidy. We thank our cleaning crew generously with perks. Minimum commitment: 2 hour commitment weekly, Thursday mornings.

 

Gallery Program Volunteer

This volunteer role assists our Public Programs Coordinator with installing and de-installing our exhibitions. This includes prepping the gallery walls, unpacking and handling artwork, condition reports, installation layout, hanging artwork and applying signage. Join the gallery crew on opening nights to assist with lecture set up, ticket taking, beverage serving and celebrate with us! Help distribute posters and program brochures in the greater Seattle area. Training is provided. Commitment: As needed; exhibitions rotate approximately every 6-12 weeks.

 

Event Volunteer

Do you have event experience and are interested in joining a fast paced planning process and hard working group of staff, board members, and volunteers? Consider volunteering for our two major annual events – Chase the Light (in June) and our annual benefit and auction (in October). We are looking for volunteers who can be positive, pro-active, connected team members to help with anything and everything!

 

Volunteer Photographer/Videographer

Help us capture the community at our events and gallery receptions. Take installation shots of our exhibitions and facilities. We seek individuals with a creative eye that can help us produce content for effective marketing, cultivation and grant proposals. Commitment: As needed for specific events.
