DESCRIPTION

Using the urban forest of Saint Edward State Park as our backdrop to photographically experiment and play, we will interpret the inspiration that comes from the forest setting. At its heart, this is a workshop encouraging participants to observe, investigate, try out techniques, and/or pursue new ideas.

July 8, 2021 | Thu 6-9pm (Pacific Time, Online):
In the first of three sessions, the group will meet virtually to view participant work, discuss intent, and look at artists who use nature as a jumping-off point for their creative works.

July 10, 2021 | Sat 9am-1pm (On-location, In-person):
Our second session will be in person at Saint Edward State Park to spend time among the trees, in the field, on the shore of Lake Washington, making images considering the place, flora, fauna, and the territory of those who came before us. The day will be a flexible combination of creative prompts and an open space to follow your own direction and goals. Experimentation in craft and concept is encouraged! Participants will want to bring any/all materials for their creation of work, along with snacks, water, comfortable clothing/shoes to spend the second session in the field. A discovery pass is required to park at Saint Edward State Park, though available in the parking lot. At the conclusion of the second session, we will come together at The Lodge at St Edward Park to reflect and relax.

July 15, 2021 | Thu 6-9pm (Pacific Time, Online):
In our third session, the group will reconvene virtually to view the product of our creative time in the forest together.
