A zine (pronounced “zeen”) is often a limited-run, handmade and affordable publication. Depending on your zine’s purpose and choice of materials and design elements, the production value can vary greatly from dollars to cents. In this one day workshop we will make Photography Zines and discuss the various ways that they can benefit photographers of all levels and genres. We will create reusable zine dummies with multiple binding techniques, tools and formats. In the process of making our zines, we will cover photo editing and sequencing methods, the many tools used, and different design, material and publishing options. Participants will need to bring at least 32 images, printed 4 images on 8.5” x 11” paper. These will be our mini work prints for editing, sequencing and laying out your zines. Laser printer or photocopier prints are ideal but any print method is fine as long as your prints are a maximum of 5.5” x 4.25”. Color images are ok, just keep in mind that any reproductions we make during the workshop will be black and white. Basic zine making tools and materials will be provided.
