Under quarantine, artists have been reconsidering their practice. What helps you think about photography more deeply? To help create community and address current issues, this summer we can meet virtually to continue talking about photography critically. With stimulating readings each week by both photographers and critics, we will look into different modes of analyzing the medium, its definitions, codes and criteria, its practitioners and its critics. Each reading or set of essays will also open the door to discussing different artists or groups, questioning their intentions and assessing their impact. For example, we will expand and broaden the selection of BIPOC writers; essays by Teju Cole and Okwui Enwezor, among others, will provide new critical lenses for reconsidering current events.
