RIFFS brings together acclaimed local makers in other media with photographic practitioners in Seattle to engage in dialogue, inspiration and improvisation.
Conceived and initially executed in 2016, PCNW is initiating a second series in spring 2019 to continue this dynamic extension of community with and between creatives in our region.
Residents have been invited based on past accomplishments, and to create an interdisciplinary, intergenerational conversation. They are required to meet together over a three-month period, and provide materials which may include notes, sketches, and outtakes for the works in progress exhibition. In addition, residents are provided free access to our darkroom and digital labs, instructional support, and a materials credit.
The resultant exhibition is intended to reveal the iterative elements of the creative process.
Riffs Artists include:
Christopher Paul Jordan & Arnaldo James
Kat Larson
Facilitators:
Kemi Adeyemi, Assistant Professor of Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies at the University of Washington, and Jon Feinstein, PCNW faculty and co-founder, Humble Arts Foundation.
This exhibition is made possible by the generous support of Seattle’s Office of Arts & Culture.
