This image is from a series titled “If They Have Eyes, Can They See?” This series grew out of an encounter that Matt had with a clear-cut forest that is submerged for 8 months of the year. As the series took root and grew, it branched out into an exploration of man’s interaction with nature.

Matt Ragen is a fine art photographer who works in both analog and digital formats out of his basement darkroom in Seattle. He prints on traditional silver gelatin paper and also works extensively with alternative processes such as platinum, bromoil, cyanotypes and more. His formal training includes a certificate degree in fine art photography from the Photographic Center Northwest (PCNW) in Seattle.
