This hands-on workshop is an introduction to the joyful and unintimidating world of DIY developing and playing with analog color film. Developing color film has a reputation for being challenging; join us for this workshop to see for yourself how approachable, creatively fulfilling, and hobbyist-friendly the world of color film can be. We will cover development of negative C41 film, color positive E6 film, and motion picture ECN2 film. Students will also learn the basics of scanning/digitizing and inverting their color film. Digital and analog color printing options will be discussed.
-Additional topics include:
-Mixing and storing chemicals
-Professional-grade vs. consumer-grade color film
-Shooting and developing expired film
-Experimental color films like the lomochromes, aerocolor, redscale, etc.
-General notes on cross-processing, pushing/pulling, souping
-Digital and analog options for printing color images from film
-Chemical safety and disposal
What to Bring: At least 1 exposed roll of color film (C41, ECN2, or E6) in 35mm or 120 film. Yes, you can bring a little of everything!
