This is a one-day workshop designed for photographers who are comfortable working with their camera, but are looking for a hands-on approach to learning new lighting techniques and creative concepts working solely with available light sources. Most photographers already use available light exclusively for shooing people, places, or objects that are indoors, outside, or even in travel. If you don’t use a flash, you’re working with available light! This workshop is an introduction to manipulating natural light – using reflectors or diffusers, controlling shutter speed or aperture to capture action or create depth of field based on available light, and more. Whether you are looking to improve your portraits in an improvised or professional studio scenario, or working outside, a control over natural light will dramatically improve your photographs.

Digital SLR users will get the most out of this workshop, but film shooters are welcome to register: learning to modify natural light is a skill that adds to any photographer’s skill set.
