Workshop: What’s Your Story? Staging Your Distinct Narrative
May 19, Sun 1-5pm, $150 / $135 Members
Instructor: Grace Weston
Description: Are you drawn to staged photography, but don’t know where to begin or what you want to say? The first challenge in working in this genre is facing the “blank canvas”. We will examine the work of varied photographers of staged scenes, both for inspiration and for a broadened understanding of the range of expression this approach offers. Then, through various exercises and exploration, we will delve into what makes you and your vision unique, what you most want to say, and how you might best express it through staged photography.
About the Instructor: Grace Weston is an award-winning photographer who works in her studio creating narrative imagery and staged vignettes that combine humor with psychological themes. She constructs her sets as well as fabricates and finds props and characters to address the dilemmas, illusions, joys and fears that at once seem so personal, yet are also universal. This workshop is running parallel to the Spinning Yarns: Photographic Storytellers exhibitionin the Photo Center gallery. Weston’s work is included in the exhibition. Register now!
