New Building Plans
We are opening up the East side of the building, unblocking windows that have been long covered up and pushing up the ceilings. The daylight studio will be will be a great benefit to both analog and digital shooters alike providing a space to utilize natural light for portraiture and still life. This studio will provide a space to use natural light, simplest and most beautiful form of light, yet still have access to the equipment, space, and resources of a professional studio. In addition this space will double as a classroom, with wall space for natural light print viewing.

Facility Access
The facilities at Photo Center NW are open to all individuals from amateurs to professionals to hobbyists. Individuals may reserve a space in the darkroom, digital lab, or studio up to a week in advance of the desired appointment date. If you are new to Photo Center NW, you will be asked to participate in a free orientation of the facilities which covers equipment use, check-in procedure, safety issues and policies. Students currently enrolled in courses and Members of Photo Center NW receive special discounts on rental rates for the facilities. Enroll in a class or become a Member and take advantage of this great benefit! To schedule an orientation or training session, contact the front desk at 206.720.7222 x10.

If you plan to work in our black and white darkroom facility, we require that you have a basic understanding of darkroom printing. We have designed a short test to assess the darkroom skills of new members in order to ensure the safety of our community darkroom. You may plan to take the test on the same day that you schedule your orientation. For members who need a refresher about darkroom printing, including those who do not pass the assessment test, Photo Center NW offers quarterly workshops about basic printing and processing in the black and white darkroom. If you plan to use our studio space, we require that you receive training from our facilities staff about Photo Center studio equipment and studio safety. Typically, you can schedule the training for the same day that you plan to use the studio. To schedule an orientation or training session, contact the front desk at 206.720.7222 x10.

Students enrolled in the Certificate Program should make use of regional libraries for research work related to photographic practice. These libraries include the Seattle Public Library, the Seattle University Libraryand the University of Washington Libraries.
