Go deep in this multi-day boot camp focused on alternative processes. Beginning with two print-out processes, Cyanotype and Vandyke, students will learn and practice the art of hand coating fine papers with photo sensitive chemistry and then exposing them to make truly handmade images. The group will then discuss some updated versions for the Cyanotype.
Next, students will learn a more elaborate develop-out process, Kallitype, which can produce cooler or warmer prints depending on variables within the process. The group will discuss these variables and learn the basic set up and workflow of develop-out alternative processes.
Take advantage of the PCNW alternative process facilities and join us in exploration of the intriguing world of these historic processes! Students must have proficient working knowledge of black and white darkroom procedure to participate in this workshop. Proper chemical safety and good workflow practices will be incorporated throughout the course.
