Our programs take many forms:
+ A 53-credit Certificate Program
+ 10-week courses & workshops
+ Master classes & public programs
Why take a course at Photo Center NW? For one, we’re passionate about the photographic arts and our classes offer everything from a rigorous technical instruction, to creative and artistic development. For those looking to explore photographic concepts or take a short introductory course, we offer a range of shorter workshops for any level. You’ll be connected to a cohort of other dedicated students, and become part of a community that recognizes and rewards great photographic work.
Our students have a passion for photography. From teens to seniors, we serve students of all ages and levels. Many of our students are either embarking on a second career, building a portfolio of work for continuing study in photography, or pursuing artistic or documentary projects of their own.
Our classes are rigorous. On average our students spend 5-10 hours a week shooting, processing, completing assignments, and preparing for weekly critiques and meetings. High expectations from our instructors mean that our students are creating work at an advanced undergraduate or post-baccalaureate level.
Our facilities serve all types of photographers and artists. Looking for a place to make digital negatives for creating cyanotypes or gum prints? We’re here for you. Need a film scanner or access to a fully equipped black and white darkroom? We have just what you need.
Our community is comprised of artists, students, teachers, engineers, teens, documentarians, scientists, designers, (and many more!). We are the only non-profit arts center in Seattle devoted to photography, and we are proud to serve everyone in our extended community by providing facilities access, classes and exhibition opportunities to photographers in the region.
