Mar 31 - Jun 9 (Mon 6-9pm)
Prerequisites: Junior Seminar
Credits: 3 - fulfills Senior Seminar requirement for Certificate Program
This advanced seminar focuses on furthering a subjective and critical approach to your photographic work. In this course, you will research a subject of your choice and work on a single, cohesive body of work. The course will involve class critique and discussions on your work in progress, readings, as well as visiting lectures by artists. In addition, the class will have at least one off-campus visit for an exclusive viewing of the Henry Art Gallery’s Permanent Photo & New Media Collection.
The emphasis of this seminar is to expand and deepen the understanding of your ideas, while considering the context of making an image. The aim is for you to come out with a body of work that is more informed, intentional and reflective of your subject matters.
Rental fees (not included in tuition) are charged for use of the Photo Center facilities – darkroom, digital lab, etc – to complete assignments outside of class; a list of rental rates for students is available on the Hours/Rates page.
