Space/Place: The Potential of Photo-based Installation
Thu 6-9pm | Mar 30 - Jun 1
Prerequisites: Photography II (Digital or B&W)
Credits: 3 - fulfills Elective requirement for Certificate Program
The boundaries between media and disciplines are more and more often being blurred in contemporary art. Artists are engaging with photographs in ways beyond the static single image on the wall. This class will address alternative strategies for presenting photo-based work, including site-specific installation, sculptural representation, and performance/time-based documentation. Students will work towards the completion of personal and/or collaborative projects that reflect the themes and research discussed throughout the course.
Rental fees (not included in tuition) are charged for use of the PCNW facilities – studios, darkroom, digital lab, etc – to complete assignments outside of class; a list of rental rates for students is available on the Hours/Rates page.
